Jay Leach is the CEO of Twin Lakes Recovery Center. Mr. Leach was formerly a Group CEO for Acadia Healthcare, overseeing multiple facilities in various states. Prior to joining Acadia Healthcare, he held facility CEO positions for Universal Health Services. His 28 years in the behavioral health industry include various executive level and administrative positions with Wake Forest University Baptist Behavioral Health and Charter Behavioral Health System.
Dr. Rohit Khanna, MD
Dr. Khanna completed medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then attended Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY, for his internship and residency in psychiatry. Dr. Khanna has worked for many years in private practice and in inpatient settings at various private psychiatric institutions. In addition to his work with Twin Lakes, he is an Attending Psychiatrist at Riverwoods Hospital, a private psychiatric facility. Dr. Khanna provides psychiatric care to under-served communities in the north Georgia mountains through an office in Ellijay, GA, via cutting-edge telepsychiatry. He also has a private practice in Marietta, GA. Dr. Khanna specializes in the treatment of adults and has extensive experience with substance use and across the spectrum of psychiatric disorders.
Karen Cheeseman, APRN, BC
Advance Practice Registered Nurse in Psychiatry
Karen has been a registered nurse since 1981 and an Advance Practice Registered Nurse in Psychiatry since 1993. Her experience includes working in nursing education, hospital administration, and as a private practice clinician. She has provided consultation and liaison services in inpatient and outpatient settings, Joint Commission and CARF accreditation consultation, program development, and medication management.
Amanda Kiner, LPC, CPCS, NCC
Director of Clinical Services
Amanda received an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Georgia Southern University. She graduated with a Masters in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. Amanda began her career in an acute care behavioral health setting and has experience working with clients of all ages struggling with addiction and behavioral health disorders. Amanda has been a clinical provider for 10 years and has expertise in self-harm and in working with clients with co-occurring behavioral health and addiction issues. Through her experiences working with self-harm and trauma, Amanda’s clinical passion turned to addiction. Amanda’s interest in addiction work was sparked by seeing so many of her clients struggle to make the changes they so desired due to their substance use. She saw the huge need and turned her focus toward working with this population. Witnessing growth and hope come back for her clients is a passion.
Michael Kiner, M.A.
Admissions and Utilization Review Director
Michael has his Master of Arts degree in Human Services and a specialization in Mental Health Administration. He has experience on the ground floor as a Mental Health Technician, Utilization Review Coordinator, Admissions Counselor, and in working in local ERs to help place those in mental health and substance abuse crisis in appropriate facilities. Mike worked 16 years as a culinary chef and in restaurant management before going back to school and completing his graduate degree. He met his wife in those restaurant years and has two beautiful children. He enjoys spending quality time with his children and family, attending live concerts, and watching sports.
Kristin Staggers, MBA, BSN, RN
Director of Nursing
A native of Arkansas, Kristin received her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Kristin comes to Twin Lakes with 12 years of experience in the hospital and clinical settings and has served in various management capacities throughout her career. Kristin relocated to Georgia with her family in May 2016. Whenever possible, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, experiencing new restaurants and gaining knowledge and skills. She has always been passionate about healthcare and helping others.
Business Office/HR Manager
Jennifer has worked in the healthcare industry for over 25 years. Her background includes clinical as well as administrative roles. She graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College with a Practical Nursing Diploma in 1995. Jennifer resides in Monroe, GA, with her husband and has three children and two grandchildren.
Lindsey Darr, LPC, NCC
Lindsey has her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Georgia Southern University and her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Georgia State University. She has experience as a case manager and counselor in both the mental health and substance abuse fields and in acute care and residential settings. Lindsey also has worked in local ERs as a liaison, assessing and placing those who are in behavioral health crisis in the appropriate level of care. Lindsey believes there are many paths to recovery and is passionate about assisting her clients and their families on their path. Lindsey enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their two energetic dogs, running, cooking new recipes and going on adventures.
Monica Lewis, LAPC, NCC
Monica is a graduate of Macon State College and Mercer University. Monica graduated Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s in Clinical Psychology and received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She completed her internship at Riverwoods Behavioral Health, where she worked with a diverse group of populations and mental health issues. Monica took a special interest in addiction during her internship, finding her passion in helping people find their identities and reach their full potential through sobriety. In her free time, Monica enjoys watching football, time with friends and family and traveling.
Brittany Hopkins M.S., LPC, NCC
Brittany has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies, and a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, all from Georgia State University. She has experience working as a counselor in a behavioral health hospital setting with mental health and substance abuse populations. Brittany has also worked as a primary counselor for the disordered eating program at a long-term residential treatment center for women. It was in this setting that she developed a passion for helping clients in recovery from substance use disorders and co-occurring disordered eating and body image concerns. Brittany is passionate about helping clients in early recovery gain insight around their struggles and patterns and challenging them to try new approaches that can lead to positive changes in their lives. In her personal life, Brittany enjoys staying active in her personal yoga practice, trying new restaurants with friends and family, and spending time outside with her dog Sadie.
Kate Butler, MS
Business Development Representative
Kate received a B.S. in Psychology from The University of Georgia and a Master’s in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. Kate has clinical experience working in inpatient and outpatient behavioral health and addiction treatment settings. For over ten years, Kate has held regional and national roles in business development and community outreach, working in substance use and behavioral health treatment programs. She has extensive experience working with individuals, families and clinical providers, connecting them with appropriate treatment resources. Kate resides in Macon with her husband and two daughters.

Doc Eldridge was most recently President/CEO of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce; a position he held since June of 2007. Before assuming the reins of the Chamber, Doc worked in the insurance agency for twenty years and owned his company, Eldridge and Associates Insurance. He is a graduate of Clarke Central High School (formerly Athens High) and The University of Georgia.
Doc has a long and distinguished career of service to the Athens Area. His list of accolades and accomplishments is quite extensive and impressive.
Doc is a former mayor, serving from 1999-2003. Before that, he served as a county commissioner for District 7 from 1995-1997. He served on the State Workforce Investment Board, Athens Downtown Development Authority, Economic Development Foundation, and currently serves on the Board for Piedmont College, Georgians for Passenger Rail, and Georgia Forward.
In addition to his many professional and political accomplishments, Doc has spent the majority of his adult life serving local non-profits and is now looking forward to a new career in area of which he is very passionate–helping people overcome addiction.
J. Reese Daniel
Business Development Representative
Reese started working in the addiction field in 1981 at Willingway Hospital as a substance abuse technician. Since that time, he has held many different positions in the addiction field, including certified addiction counselor, marketing director, COO and CEO. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has worked with Northeast Georgia Health Systems/Laurelwood, Peachford Hospital and now Twin Lakes Recovery Center. He is a member of the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association and is a previous recipient of the Bernard Carter Humanitarian Award.
